My maternal grandmother raise 11 children in Vega Alta, Puerto Rico. My uncle or Tio Luis was the one I was closest to.
We once were clearing out some dense forest on his property. One tree had a hidden secret. After he chopped down that particular tree, he yelled at me, some 75 feet away, "Luisito, corre !!! Abeja !!! (translation: Luis, run !!! Bee !!!) The tree had a beehive which could not be seen from the ground level. Climbing over the downed trees, trying to escape all the bee stings we were receiving, the scene was fresh out of a comedy.
There were many fond memories of my Tio Luis I will cherish. He passed away October 2023. This portrait was done in his honor.
I work on a commissioned basis and will gladly paint from a photograph. Canvas size will be 22 in. x 28 in. This size is an attention grabber in any room. The medium will be acrylic and the fee is $500 plus shipping.
